CND Plum Truffle Duo

Sorry about the lack of posts guys! I have plenty of pics, but it's been crazy hectic around my house since I got home. But on the plus side, I went to the dentist last week and I don't have any cavities! Ok, that shouldn't be an accomplishment, but to me it is. So I managed to snag this set of polishes from a blog sale a while back and I meant to wear just the creme as a full mani, but I ended up smudging my right hand and decided to just have a swatch-a-thon that day. First up, bottle shots!

Ok, I'm sure you're bored of bottle shots by now, so just a little bit about the application. I used two coats of Plum Truffle and then added one coat of Plum Truffle Sparkle. Plum Truffle was almost a one coater, but I used two coats to cover any bald spots. Polish was a good consistency, and the brush is nice, although a little soft and wide for my liking. If you have wide nail beds, you'll love the brush, but it's not too bad for smaller nail beds since the brush isn't as big as the OPI Pro-Wide. I didn't do any cleanup, so it's a bit sloppier than I would like. And that's about it!

My first BB Coutures!

P1000500
Dragon's Breath has been on my wishlist for some time now, and when I spotted it in a blog sale, I knew I had to get it! Love Bug was another one I wanted as well and the same seller had it, so I grabbed it.

P1000505
Macro of Love Bug
Love Bug has this really small iridescent glitter in it that doesn't show up too well on the nail, but it looks great in the bottle. It is on the sheer side, so it took either 3 or 4 coats for the pics below.

P1000510
Macro of Dragon's Breath
Dragon's Breath is this deep maroon filled with multicolored glitter. The dark base sort of obscures all the different colors though, so it wasn't as exciting on the nail. I used 2 coats for the pics below, although if you tend to do thick coats, one will suffice.

They were all taken under a lamp except the last picture which is taken by a window. Overall, I liked them, but not enough to spend $10 a bottle on them regularly. I'd rather save that money for HARE polish and other awesome indie brands.

Happy Holidays,

Nubar Blueberry Pt. 2

Ok, so remember me telling you about how I used Nubar Blueberry as the base for some awesome layering? Here's the first part of what I layered over it: Hare Afterglow!! I got my first Hares from one of the lovely ladies in one of my polish groups and Afterglow is the only one I've used so far.

Nubar Blueberry Layering
Words can't describe it (I'm sure they could, but I'm terrible at descriptions) so here's a macro shot:

This is in direct light, so it looks a bit lighter here than it really is.
The next few photos didn't come out too well, but I included them since they were closest to the polish's true color.

Ok, I kept taking photos since it was so pretty...so here are three more. :)

Sassy Lacquer - Nutty As A...

So umm....yeah, I took these pics and was supposed to post them earlier, but I got busy...so here we are! This is 1 coat of Sassy Lacquer Nutty As A... over my previous manicure of Zoya Midori and Cult Nails Nevermore. It has gold micro-glitter and matte red, green, and purple hexes in a slightly tinted base. The slight tint of the base only affects pastels and white underwear.

So, is it any good? Of course! I usually have a problem applying glitter polishes from mini bottles, but I didn't have to fish for glitter or dip my brush back in the bottle to finish a nail. I didn't apply any topcoat here, but from the feel of my nails, I'm sure it would be smooth with one coat of Seche Vite or Wicked Fast. So my verdict - if you're looking for a great Christmas topper polish, I'm sure Nutty As A... will not disappoint. I'm dying to try it over red and gold...but right now, I'm loving it over black, and it even looks great over hot pink! You can purchase it and other great quality indie polish here.
Happy Polishing (and get shopping!),

2 Pretty Polishes...

Don't always make a pretty combo. Last week, I had gotten a few Jade polishes in the mail and decided to use one in conjuction with Lynnderella Golden Rules. First up, a terrible picture of Jade Mystic Gold by itself:

Golden Rules
It's way more holo in real life. But it's pretty close to the color of mustard...holographic mustard? Hmmm... this was 2 coats, but it was almost opaque in 1.

Golden Rules
My index finger has one coat, and my other nails have 2 coats of Golden Rules. I think I was trying to channel the creative layering skills of Cathy at More Nail Polish, but I think I failed here.

Golden Rules
This is a really packed glitter, I should have only used one coat. It took a lot to try and smooth this out...and it still wasn't completely smooth after two coats of Glitter Food.

Golden Rules
I do have to say though, the blurred holo on my ring finger looks amazing. Also, the girls I tutor on Fridays really liked this. They thought my nails were fake...even though they are so short! As you can probably tell, I did not do cleanup because I did these late at night, but both polishes applied pretty well, and I didn't do too much fishing for glitter. Next time, I think I'll use a cooler toned gold if I decide to go with a gold base again.

Revisiting a Glitter

So remember these sucky pictures of an amazing glitter I posted a couple weeks back? Well, I decided to pull out that glitter again and wear it over Nails Inc Baker Street. If you don't own Baker Street, you need it. Enough said. But I didn't stop at just Baker Street, I layered over it before I added glitter! On my ring, thumb, and pinky fingers, I added Girly Bits Street Magic, and on my index and middle fingers, I added my unnamed blurple franken with pink shimmer. Street Magic is amazing. I wish I'd used it on all my nails because when the light hits the shimmer so that it glows green, the combo was amazing and perfectly Halloweeny! It was so hard to capture the shimmer when it was green!  But enough of me talking, you wanna see pics!

Here you can clearly see the difference that my franken makes in the base color.
1-P1000144
Isn't the glitter yummy over the shimmer? Ignore if it seems lumpy...I got sloppy with topcoat. It's not the glitter's fault.

You can see the shimmer on my pinky!!!

Bonus blurry shots where the green shimmer finally showed up!1-P1000155

Hope you guys enjoyed it and I'm sorry you can't be here in person to drool over this combo with me!

Delicate Elegance

I love the combo I'm wearing today. I could wear it forever...and that's saying a lot. I have an entirely full Helmer with overflow into 2 Melmer drawers...and one Helmer drawer is entirely dedicated to indies! So today's combo is seriously that beautiful, although I'm sure you wouldn't be able to see all the beauty just from my pics. Enough blabbering from me, you want to know what's on my nails! The pics are 2 coats of Zoya Avery, one coat of Sonnetarium Snowfall, a coat of Glitter Food from Nail Pattern Boldness, all topped with Cult Nails Wicked Fast. It came out a tad thick for my liking, especially since I had to file my nails down to complete nubbins, but I still love it!

Sonnetarium Snowfall

Hope you like this combo as much as I do! And apologies for the shoddy cleanup...I did this at work this morning at about 4 AM...before I managed to get sick.

Lynnderella Lucky Numbers

Yeah, yeah, I know all the drama associated with this particular brand, and while fascinating, guess what? I don't care. Moving on! I wanted this particular polish because of the pinkish shimmer in the base, and I wasn't finding any other indie polishes similar to it to satisfy my lemming. I got it in the mail yesterday, and I knew I wanted to wear it right away! I didn't want to layer it over white like I've seen, just because I wanted something different for the first time I would be wearing it...so I chose gray and green. The base colors are China Glaze Recycle and Starboard. Now enjoy the pic spam!

Lost In Space

Happy Monday...Or not. This weekend's mani was an awesome franken I purchased from SparklesbyJulie called Lost In Space. I purchased it using a coupon code that I have no idea if it's even valid, so I won't get your hopes up. Sorry! Lost in Space regularly retails for $10 and I got mine for $8, so it was a good deal to me. I'm rambling, aren't I? Sorry guys, I went through a whole bunch of drama and BS this weekend so I'm trying to stay away from that by incessantly talking about other stuff. My pics of this suck, and honestly, I think my indoor photos did a better job of showing off the polish than my sun pics.

It's a black jelly base with a bunch of teal holo glitter thrown in plus some larger silver hexes. This is two coats, no base color. The only reason I would advise you to layer this over black is because it does have that jelly quality where the tips get kinda see through, and it's really hard to wrap your tips with a glitter polish in the first place. Otherwise, this is totally opaque in 2 coats, and you don't actually need underwear.
