Another Pink...and it's Wednesday!

I break all the rules over here at Life.Love.Nailpolish, because it's my blog and I can do what I want! But today, I'm actually posting a pink polish on a Wednesday! So I guess I can say "On [some]Wednesdays, we wear pink!" Ok, onto the rambling about the polish. Nubar Pink Lily is a very light pink creme with fine shimmer that lines up in strands. I'm terrible at descriptions. It's got shimmer like Zoya Marley. That's the best I can do. I got this in a grab bag I purchased in a Facebook group. I used 3 coats for the pictures. It was streaky on the first, but managed to get mostly evened out by the third. I've shown it without topcoat. I also have a comparison for you after the inital swatches!

Pink Lily
It's really light! And the fine shimmer is really invisible. I just thought of a better description of the shimmer - pearly shimmer! But it still looks like a creme.

Pink Lily
It makes me look so tan!

Pink Lily
Here you can see it was a bit lumpy. I'm sure topcoat would help with that. I think it may also need a 4th coat. Keep in mind that these were pretty thin coats though, so maybe I just needed to polish a little thicker and I might have been able to get away with 2 coats.

Comparison time! I compared it to 2 other light pinks in my stash, just to see how similar it was. I have China Glaze Something Sweet on my index finger and OPI Mod About You on my ring finger. I used 3 coats of each.

Pink Lily
This pic came out a little too dark and warm, but you can clearly tell the differences between the polishes. The China Glaze and OPI have some lavender in them and are more cool-toned compared to Pink Lily.

Pink Lily
The China Glaze and the OPI are more similar to each other than to Pink Lily.
Verdict: No dupes of Pink Lily here, but Something Sweet and Mod About You are interchangeable.

Hope this helped at least one person! Have a marvelous day!

Apologetic Rainbow

So I really wasn't planning on posting today, but since I made a boo-boo this morning, I figured I'd oblige you guys with a post. Just be aware, these are really terrible pictures from last summer, taken under indoor light, and I have some chips. Ok, here we go:

I don't really remember what polishes I used, but I know the yellow is by Diamond Cosmetics, the peach is Barielle Blossom, the pink is by OPI, the red is Wet n Wild Red Red, the blue is from the LA Girl Color Addict Line (possibly Idol?), the green is Zoya Apple, and the holo glitter is Covergirl City Lights. I have no idea what brand or color purple I used. Hope you enjoyed!

OPI You Callin' Me A Lyre?

P1050771

Ugh...OPI is so obnoxious with it's use of punctuation in it's polish names. That's beside the point, though. Today's polish is a gorgeous, delicate pink from the recently released Ballet collection. From swatches I saw online, I thought it was a lot paler but it is pleasantly pink in person in all lighting. This is my first set of photos with short nails :(. But, I am getting used to them. I think they're kinda cute now. What do you guys think? Anywho, onto the pictures. They are all 3 coats of You Callin' Me A Lyre?.

P1050772
The accent nail is 3 coats of the OPI, 1 coat of Pretty & Polished Valentino, 1 coat China Glaze Luxe and Lush, and 1 coat of NYC Starry Silver Glitter. I love how delicate the glitter looks. Click the pics to see better detail.

I feel like these pics are kinda grainy today, so sorry for that but I was in a rush to take pics. I am using flickr for pictures now, so hopefully the quality is significantly better since Blogger won't be able to distort them to it's liking.

Quick Update

Sorry for my absence, but it's been a hectic summer! Anyway just wanted to show you guys one of my latest acquisitions, OPI Bubble Bath!! And I managed to get the original formula!!
Indoors, no flash, artificial light.
I'm such a sucker for these kinds of colors. It's really sheer and milky, so it took 4 coats to get it to look like this. And there was still VNL.
Stamped with Color Club Revvvolution. Indoors, no flash.
I used M.A.S.H. plate m57, which I believe is the same as Konad m57. I felt pretty good about this stamping since I hadn't done full nail designs before.

You can't see it in the picture, but in the sunlight, the holo particles in Revvvolution were so sparkly and awesome!! That's it for now!!

My Bad Luck Polish

Late Afternoon Sunlight
Meet 212-Sephora. When this polish originally came out, I heard so much about it I took a trip to Sephora just to get it. And my birthday gift from Sephora. I put this on once and decided I hated it. It sat very still in my tiny collection for months. As I expanded my collection this spring, I came upon this polish again. I ignored it for a few more months and decided to wear it this past week. I put it on Tuesday afternoon while I was at work over one coat of Wet n Wild black. I liked it better now because it wasn't as sheer, but I still wasn't in love with it. Wednesday was moving day for me, since I had to switch dorms for the summer. I ended up breaking almost all of my nails while wearing this polish. Now I have to grow them all out again because I have nubbins!! You'll see them soon. But if you like this polish, scroll down to see the rest of the pics.

Flakies are more visible in the shade.
May your fingernails never break,
J

Lincoln Park After Dark

I finally swatched OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark!!! I love it!!! One of my best friends loves dark reds and purples like this because she is in love with the "dipped in wine" look. Her words, not mine. It's a really dark plum but it never truly looked black to me. Some people would beg to differ. I got a little bored, so I did a tape design with Wet n Wild Sparked, a gorgeous, almost completely opaque (in glitter terms) pink glitter.
Isn't that gorgeous? I only did it on my thumb, though. I also layered some polishes over the rest of my nails to see how they looked.
I thought the Maybelline polish was sheerer than it actually was, so this was a fail. But Fairy Dust is my favorite glitter topper and Kisses and Bises is sooo gorgeous!! I love it. Below I've blurred the pic so you can see the glitter effect better.

Fairy Dust has the most gorgeous holo glitter! Hope you enjoyed this post!
