L.A. Colors Intense Bright Nail Polish - Amp'd Blue

Let me just say this - I LOVE this polish!!! Beautiful application (2 coats), quick dry time (I'm looking at you Essie), and gorgeous shimmer! Plus, it's blue. The only downfall is that this polish doesn't come in a big enough bottle!! This is part of the L.A. Colors Intense Collection in Amp'd. None of the bottles have names, so I'll just be putting the collection name with the basic color name. All the polishes in this collection contain shimmer, but I haven't swatched them yet. The bottles are all 0.24 oz/7 ml. I got this set for $3.00 on sale at Cherry Culture where they are currently having a sale off the usual price of $6.00. Enjoy the rest of the pics of this beauty! I used 2 layers of China Glaze Dorothy Who over the 2 coats of polish on my ring finger.

In case you hadn't noticed. I had to darken the pic severely to get the color accurate.

Aquafina water bottle for comparison

In the shade outside.

It looks lighter in full sunlight of course.

Wet n Wild - Night Prowl

So I originally picked up this color because Rite Aid's lighting made it look like a deep purple with lighter purple glitter. I got home and applied the first coat to my nails. It looked ICKY. The base was sheer at one coat so it appeared grey. This is definitely not a one-coater! The polish was opaque at 2 coats for me and I started to like it more, but not as much as I would have if the base color was a deep purple. On to the pics!

Excuse the crappiness of the above pics...they look better zoomed in, or on my computer. Blogger screwed up the way they look. Ugh!!! Anyways, some outdoor pics!! And I mattified my ring finger with Hard Candy Matte-ly In Love, which I picked up at Wal-Mart for 4 bucks.

Now that Blogger has crappified my pics, I'm off to figure out a new method of uploading pics. Facebook page maybe?

J likes Red Polish

You may have noticed the lack of red polishes on my blog. You may be wondering if I even own a red polish. Truth be told, I own about 4 red polishes - China Glaze Italian Red & Ruby Pumps, Wet n Wild Red Red, and Essie Risky Business (it counts right?). So I picked up the W&W polish just because I felt I needed a creme red (the China Glazes are jelly and glitter) and it actually looked kinda pinkish in Rite Aid, but it was only 99 cents. So without further ado, I present to you my favorite red polish - Wet n Wild Red Red.
I'm not sure how this color looks on your screen, but it is a true red and it fits its name perfectly. I got extra excited and decided that it was time for me to use Risky Business so I added one layer of that on top.

The second picture is more accurate. The Essie doesn't change the color to orange, just adds some becutiful shimmer. It was hard to capture the color.

I added a second layer of Risky Business on my thumb and it did make the polish look more orange-toned, but not as much as this picture makes it look. I could not get an accurate picture. Sorry! Hope you enjoyed this post!! How do you feel about red polishes?

All About...Nails!

So today's post is just a really quick post about the upkeep of my nails. I'm not really high maintenance, except I buy a lot of polish and paint my nails often. I do NOT cut/trim/push my cuticles, because my skin is sensitive and even though it doesn't hurt, my brain is bothered by that action. I also don't really see the need to attack my cuticles in such a manner. I use Curel Hand & Cuticle Cream for my hands, but if I just got out the shower, I use Olay body lotion. To remove my polish, I use straight acetone from Rite Aid and cotton balls/pads. My nails are completely natural, and when I need my nails to grow out faster, I drink more soy milk. My base coats are Sally Hansen Diamond Strength and Sally Hansen Hard as Wraps. I think that's about it. Ask if you have any questions!
Bonus pic: Me wearing China Glaze Jetstream over a trillion layers of Orly Nailtrition. I could not get that manicure to look neat at all.

Don't believe the camera's lies!!

This picture is exactly how almost everyone's swatches of Orly Royal Navy looked. I knew I had to get this color!! It was the most amazing royal blue polish. Not! Don't get me wrong, the polish is actually really gorgeous, but it is not the color shown above.

This is more like the actual color. You can hardly see the teal shimmer unless you look up close, and it is a true navy jelly. In bright lighting, there is definite VNL (visible nail line). I decided to jazz up my manicure with a Color Club mini I scored on eBay that I cannot find any info about. If you know anything about this color, please let me know!! I can't even find swatches of any of the minis I bought except Where's The Soiree?, so someone please inform me!! No further procrastination, here's the nail art done freehand with the polish brush and a dotting tool in Color Club Peace & Gold:

I knew this polish would look great with gold and it does!! Plus, I'm a little smug about my nail art...It looks great to me!!

Addicted to Corals

I totally forgot to include this in yesterday's post, so this is just a set of L.A. Colors polish I picked up in Rite Aid for 6 bucks. It's a great buy, and I shall swatch them soon! On to today's scheduled topic...

Meet Blazed by Wet n Wild. Even though you can't see it in the picture, there is VNL after 3 coats, but I didn't care to add a fourth. Ignore the color that the above picture shows you, but just look at the gorgeous finish!! It is a corals that leans more pink on me than orange, even though I bought the bottle because it looked more orangey.

Still gorgeous here, but not color-accurate. This polish is very well-behaved!
This is exactly how the polish appears on me. It's a great color and I don't think I'll ever tire of corals.

Back with Black...Yes!

I have a whole lot of swatches and manis lined up for you guys, but I decided to show my first franken to you guys. It's really simple, just some NYC Black Lace Creme (it's a yucky black so that's why I used it) and some holographic glitter. If you click on the picture, you'll see another color on my thumb, but that's a franken for another time.
Here are some more pics up close:

Hope you enjoyed this!!! I'm off to write my other blog entries since I have about 20 new posts to write...I have plenty of material!

Where Am I?

I've been exhausted since I got back from Maryland after the Memorial Day weekend, so I haven't uploaded any pics to my computer, therefore, the blog hasn't been updated. Never fear!!! I have been doing manicures and taking pictures, so I have plenty to show you and I did some swatching today, so I should have enough for 2 weeks of posting while my nails undergo Orly Nailtrition treatment. Ok, sleep calls and I've got to be up early tomorrow, so check back tomorrow and hopefully I'll have a couple of pics up!
