Failure Sailor

Sooooo...nail fail time! I had a costume party to attend this weekend, and I wanted to do nautical nails to match my sailor costume. Well, when you can't find any of your nail art supplies, it's pretty hard to execute the idea I had in my head..that, and my striping brush was fraying. So I bring you this nail fail!

Nautical Nails
Even my dots were uneven. And that gradient looked way worse in real life. My cleanup was sloppy, probably because I hated how this came out, but still sloppy.

Nautical Nails
Promise my cleanup didn't look this bad in real life. Oh macro, why do you hate me so? That's it for this post, and since I posted mine, why don't you tell me about your most recent nail fail in the comments?
Bonus pic: My friend took this while we were at In N Out the other night after a costume skate party.

L.A. Colors Intense Bright Nail Polish - Amp'd Blue

Let me just say this - I LOVE this polish!!! Beautiful application (2 coats), quick dry time (I'm looking at you Essie), and gorgeous shimmer! Plus, it's blue. The only downfall is that this polish doesn't come in a big enough bottle!! This is part of the L.A. Colors Intense Collection in Amp'd. None of the bottles have names, so I'll just be putting the collection name with the basic color name. All the polishes in this collection contain shimmer, but I haven't swatched them yet. The bottles are all 0.24 oz/7 ml. I got this set for $3.00 on sale at Cherry Culture where they are currently having a sale off the usual price of $6.00. Enjoy the rest of the pics of this beauty! I used 2 layers of China Glaze Dorothy Who over the 2 coats of polish on my ring finger.

In case you hadn't noticed. I had to darken the pic severely to get the color accurate.

Aquafina water bottle for comparison

In the shade outside.

It looks lighter in full sunlight of course.

Lincoln Park After Dark

I finally swatched OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark!!! I love it!!! One of my best friends loves dark reds and purples like this because she is in love with the "dipped in wine" look. Her words, not mine. It's a really dark plum but it never truly looked black to me. Some people would beg to differ. I got a little bored, so I did a tape design with Wet n Wild Sparked, a gorgeous, almost completely opaque (in glitter terms) pink glitter.
Isn't that gorgeous? I only did it on my thumb, though. I also layered some polishes over the rest of my nails to see how they looked.
I thought the Maybelline polish was sheerer than it actually was, so this was a fail. But Fairy Dust is my favorite glitter topper and Kisses and Bises is sooo gorgeous!! I love it. Below I've blurred the pic so you can see the glitter effect better.

Fairy Dust has the most gorgeous holo glitter! Hope you enjoyed this post!

Yes, Yes I did.

I went to Rite Aid today, and I bought new polish. Of course I did! SH were BOGO 1/2 off and W&W were 99 cents as always, with the exception of their fastdry line, which was 1.99. And then I got 2 NYC polishes for 99 cents each. Care to take a peek?
From L to R:  Essie: kisses and bises; Wet n Wild: Bijou Blue, Sparked, Lavender Creme, Caribbean Frost, Party of Five (so sparkly!); Sally Hansen complete salon manicure: Right Said Red, Shall We Dance?; NYC: Black Lace Creme, Starry Silver Glitter (super pretty sparkles!)

Expect to see these colors on my nails in the future!!
